Geospatial Solution Frameworks

Reduce risk. Save cost. Accelerate delivery.

Farallon has developed several high-demand GIS-related solutions as complete frameworks that are 85% ready out-of-the-box and just need to "plug-in" to your backend GIS, database, mapping technology or workflow. The modular frameworks are based on open standards with interoperability between different brands and different kinds of spatial processing systems. Each solution framework has been validated technically and user-tested so developing a production-ready GIS service on top of them is low risk, lower cost, and faster to deploy.

Enterprise Addressing System Authoritative, centralized database of building addresses tied to Assessor’s parcels and City’s street centerline network Plant GIS Web-based GIS asset tracking application to monitor water treatment plant assets, manage workflows & enable collaboration Community Services Locator Web mapping application for smart, simple access to parcel and address-based information for City/County staff and citizens Cultural Resources Management Web-based Enterprise GIS to inventory, monitor and manage cultural heritage and archaeological assets Mobile Data Collection Workflow-driven Android mobile app streamlines data collection with synchronization to central database

Complete solutions with modular customization

Our solution frameworks greatly reduce the risk of launching a new GIS project. The frameworks have been end-to-end validated and provide a complete solution but in a modular manner so that we can tune it to a client's unique workflows, enterprise application backend, and expected use cases. Customization typically includes the following phases:

  1. Identify high value use cases and functional requirements
Farallon begins with on-site meetings to identify business workflows and use cases for completing common and recurring GIS workflows. This collaborative, "look first" approach lets us quickly define the important scenarios the application should improve or automate as well as understand needs and expectations of different users and stakeholders.
  2. Solution design specification and implementation plan
Based on the requirements phase, we specify the modular components and the core backend technology stack that best meets the client's current needs, as well as anticipates and supports future updates. Integral to this phase is identify integration opportunities that leverage existing IT investments and existing in-house expertise.
  3. Rapid Application Development
Using a Rapid Application Development approach we iteratively design the highest priority functional elements for the application prototype - both from a technical and usability perspective. Each iteration provides project team members the opportunity to refine the design early in the development process, dramatically reducing the chances of the expensive missed requirement. This open and transparent development phase helps not only reassure business users, but helps our developers, project managers and QA teams to know they are building the right solution.
  4. Deployment
Farallon provides on-site deployment and configuration of the finalized application. We also re-validate the application for performance and usability.
  5. Documentation and technology transfer
To ensure internal staff can extend the application in the future, and to support application tuning, deployment, and longer-term administrative tasks, Farallon provides technology transfer and technical support services throughout the project.
