Case Studies on Pavement Management
Enterprise GIS for Town of Woodside with StreetSaver PMS integration

Challenge
The Town of Woodside needed an enterprise GIS. They also wanted to integrate the GIS with MTC’s StreetSaver Online Pavement Management System and a CRW Permit Management System.
Solution
Farallon Geographics built and deployed an enterprise GIS for the Town of Woodside, CA, and linked the GIS to the Town’s MTC StreetSaver Pavement Management System (PMS) as well as to its CRW Permit Management System. Town staff could quickly map StreetSaver information into the GIS to perform spatial analysis or use a map as an interface for managing property assets and notifications. Read more details...

Santa Clara County Pavement Management System - GIS Integration

Challenge
Santa Clara County wanted to integrate their pavement management system with their enterprise GIS and provide live-links between the two systems.
Solution
Farallon integrated MTC's StreetSaver Online pavement management software with ESRI's ArcGIS using the County's existing Microsoft Access database. The segmentation of the streets into paving sections is done dynamically using the Streetsaver database at the time the user requests the information so that the two datasets never get out of sync. City of San Mateo Master Address Database

Challenge
Addresses are a key dataset used by the City of San Mateo to provide essential services. No single complete, accurate, and current address list existed within the City that could be used as the authoritative list of business and residential locations. This limited the ability for City departments to coordinate efforts and integrate information across business systems.
Solution
Farallon designed and deployed a Master Address Database (MAD) as a central authoritative service for all City departments. The MAD offers increased data availability, reduced errors and maintenance, elimination of duplicate data, and enhanced City services. Read more details...

City of Hayward integrates ESRI GIS with StreetSaver Online PMS

Challenge
The City of Hayward wanted to visualize their StreetSaver Online pavement management analyses using their ESRI GIS to create maps that could show both detailed street maps and pavement condition and maintenance information.
Solution
Farallon developed dynamic segmentation procedures to render StreetSaver information to the GIS. City staff could then use the GIS to perform spatial analysis, allowing them to quickly create maps showing the extent of distressed streets. Read more details...

City of Chula Vista uses dynamic segmentation to render StreetSaver information to the GIS
Challenge
The City of Chula Vista wanted the information in their ArcSDE GIS to be shared with a StreetSaver database.
Solution
Tools in ESRI's ArcGIS were used to develop dynamic segmentation procedures to render StreetSaver information to the GIS. The segmentation of the streets into paving sections is done dynamically using the StreetSaver database post mile data at the time the user requests the information so the two datasets remain in sync. GIS PavePlan Application Helps San Mateo County Manage Pavement Conditions

Challenge
San Mateo County manages over $100 million of infrastructure assets such as roads and sewer infrastructure. Pulling together information from separate GIS, pavement management software and budgeting spreadsheets was time consuming. It could take up to three months for a decision, such as asphalt resurfacing, to be agreed upon by all departments.
Solution
Farallon Geographics developed the GIS PavePlan application which automates data interchange between their cost modeling application, GIS database, and pavement scenario manager. Read more details...

GIS Integration with Pavement Management System Allows Town of Danville to Visualize Pavement Data
Challenge
The Town of Danville wanted to visualize their StreetSaver Online pavement management analyses using their Geomedia GIS to create maps that could show both detailed street maps and pavement condition and maintenance information.
Solution
Farallon developed dynamic segmentation procedures to render StreetSaver information to the Intergraph Geomedia GIS. The segmentation of the streets into paving sections is done dynamically using the StreetSaver database at the time the user requests the information so that the two datasets never get out of sync. City of City of Menlo Park integrates ESRI GIS with StreetSaver PMS
Challenge
The City of Menlo Park wanted the their Enterprise GIS (ArcSDE/ArcGIS/SQL) data to be dynamically shared with a StreetSaver pavement management database with live links between the two.
Solution
Farallon integrated MTC's StreetSaver v.8 pavement management software with ESRI's ArcSDE/ArcGIS software on an enterprise SQL Server database and defined a new data model, linking procedures, and database views to provide a live-link between the PMS and GIS systems over 60 miles of streets. City of Santa Rosa GIS/PMS integration
Challenge
The City of Santa Rosa wanted to integrate their pavement management system with their enterprise GIS and provide live-links between the two systems.
Solution
Farallon integrated MTC's StreetSaver v.8 pavement management software with ESRI's ArcSDE/ArcGIS software on an enterprise SQL Server database and defined a new data model, linking procedures, and database views to provide a live-link between the PMS and GIS systems over 542 miles of streets. MTC StreetSaver PMS-GIS scalable web application

Challenge
Sonoma County had worked with Farallon to integrate their GIS with MTC StreetSaver pavement management system (PMS). MTC wanted to make this integrated GIS-PMS solution more widely accessible and asked Farallon to create a web-based implementation that would be used by Sonoma County and then extended to other Bay Area jurisdictions.
Solution
Farallon designed and deployed a custom web-based application which displays Streetsaver tabular reports along with a map highlighting corresponding street sections. The web-services XML based application will readily scale to accommodate other Bay Area counties and completely new applications. Read more details...
