Enterprise Address Repository and Maintenance Solution for Walnut Creek Citywide Building Address Database
Challenge
The City of Walnut Creek maintained critical address data on a departmental basis in a variety of incompatible formats. They wanted to reduce errors and inconsistencies by deploying a single, authoritative, centralized database of building addresses.
Solution
The City engaged Farallon to design and deploy an integrated Enterprise Master Address Database /Repository, Address Management System and Address Maintenance System that would link every building address within the City to assessor parcels, street centerlines, and potentially to individual buildings.
Bay Area Air Quality Management District - Geospatial Components Integration With Mobile Field App
Challenge
The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is responsible for maintaining air quality standards within the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties. BAAQMD needed to develop and integrate geospatial functionality into backend applications for permitting, engineering, and enforcement used for daily operations. They also wanted to build and integrate a mobile application into their system to support inspectors in the field.
Solution
Farallon developed and integrated geospatial functionality into the District's customer facing permitting application and internal SharePoint portal that contained all of the District's spatially related data. Farallon also developed an Android-based mobile application and integrated it into the District's production system to support coordination between inspectors in the field and managers in the District's office.
City of Fairfield Property Review and Notification Application
Challenge
The City of Fairfield wanted to upgrade its slow, legacy property review and notification application.
Solution
Using Farallon’s flexible and cost effective framework, Farallon developed an extensible web-based property review and notification application utilizing the City’s existing ArcGIS Server technology along with Google Maps basemap data.
Town of Danville Property Review Application
Challenge
The Town of Danville's 10-yr old GIS used a proprietary design and data structure. Existing property review and property notification applications built on this GIS were not scalable and could not be integrated with modern mapping services or other Town data systems such as permitting and document management.
Solution
Farallon built a new web-based property review application to query and display property ownership, taxation, and jurisdiction information on a map to allow staff the ability to quickly and easily access property data.
Enterprise GIS for Town of Woodside with StreetSaver PMS integration
Challenge
The Town of Woodside needed an enterprise GIS. They also wanted to integrate the GIS with MTC’s StreetSaver Online Pavement Management System and a CRW Permit Management System.
Solution
Farallon Geographics built and deployed an enterprise GIS for the Town of Woodside, CA, and linked the GIS to the Town’s MTC StreetSaver Pavement Management System (PMS) as well as to its CRW Permit Management System. Town staff could quickly map StreetSaver information into the GIS to perform spatial analysis or use a map as an interface for managing property assets and notifications.
Contra Costa Economic Development website integrates spatially-aware database and MS Virtual Earth
Challenge
To promote economic development, Contra Costa County Community Development Department wanted a website to help real estate professionals and business owners search for properties available for development or new business locations.
Solution
Farallon developed an easy-to-use "GIS Site Locator" website that lets users enter parameters such as price range and square footage, then view matching properties on a map in MS Virtual Earth. Click on a property to display additional information, including photographs, driving directions and current traffic conditions. An RSS feed automatically keeps users updated of relevant new properties.
City of Oakland, CA Enterprise GIS and Master Address Database Development
Challenge
The City of Oakland wanted to improve the efficiency, automation and integration of its location-based data, improve the usefulness and accuracy of its existing parcel data, and develop an enterprise geodatabase to expand city services.
Solution
Farallon built an enterprise-scale parcel database using spatially accurate orthophotographs and then implemented a master address database (MAD), providing the City with a comprehensive inventory of the City's addresses. The system also tied in other outside data sources including the Alameda Assessor's property database and Oakland permit tracking database.
Farallon assists with litigation support
Challenge
A California legal firm was handling a dispute over a large parcel of real estate located in rural California. They needed a way for a San Francisco jury to visualize the size of the property.
Solution
Farallon used publicly available parcel data for the relevant areas and overlaid these outlines on a Google Earth orthophotograph of the City of San Francisco to show the property size in relationship to the size of San Francisco.
City of San Mateo Google Earth integration with OGC compliant data
Challenge
The City of San Mateo uses a suite of GIS applications for staff to access geospatial data. The City wanted to provide more intuitive access to its GIS data and make it accessible to the public using the Google Earth interface. However, the back end GIS was not able to deliver geospatial data directly to Google Earth.
Solution
Farallon built a web service interface using .NET to translate data from the City's Intergraph GeoMedia WebMap server to a format usable by Google Earth. This allows a Google Earth user to view selected City GIS data such as high quality aerial imagery and point, linear, & polygonal features - all in real-time.
Army Corp of Engineers projects analyzed by congressional district
Challenge
The Army Corp of Engineers is the nation's primary federal engineering agency responsible for tasks ranging from hazardous waste clean-ups to reservoir and dam maintenance. The ACOE needed an accessible way to track and manage project budgets in CA, NV and AZ by geography and congressional district.
Solution
Farallon created a web-based application that lets a user select a geographic area, congressional district, or watershed region and retrieve a list of all current projects in that selected area. Click on a project name and a popup window provides full project details.
